Tumbling Towers

For the image, I mixed line elements of watch- or observation towers with lines and shapes that refer to photographic documents of "Merzbau", an interior Gesamtkunstwerk created by German artist Kurt Schwitters. My aim was to contrast power structures, now breaking down, with references to that personal interior space of visionary imagination, play and process exemplified by the inspiring and regenerative oeuvre of Schwitters. I chose the medium of lithography to retain the depths of color and touch that varies slightly in each print. All prints, except prints XI/XV - XV/XV are carefully printed from lithographic plates in two color runs. The colors change from print-to-print, rendering each print unique.

Edition of 15 variable lithographic prints
I/XV - XV/XV plus 8 artist proofs
Each print is unique in color
